The Taylorsville-SLCC Symphony Orchestra is bringing a night of American music to the Bennion Junior High Stage on Feb 26.

The symphony orchestra will perform George Chadwick's “Symphonic Sketches,” Morton Gould's “American Salute,” Jay Ungar's “Ashokan Farewell,” and “Variations on a Shaker Melody” from Aaron Copland's “Appalachian Spring” in their concert titled “Music of America.”

Admission is free and open to the public and the performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

The Taylorsville Symphony Orchestra had its beginnings in 2003, but expanded in 2005, when the Salt Lake Community College Orchestra joined them, forming The Taylorsville-SLCC Symphony Orchestra.

The music group is a nonprofit that seeks to provide quality entertainment to Taylorsville and the surrounding community and will continue its concert series in April with its spring concert. Dates will be posted on www.taylorsvilleut.gov as they become available.
