Tyler Hurt

Taylorsville- On Sunday, November 22nd at 2:39 p.m. Unified Police were notified of a hit and run accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV. Witnesses reported that the SUV had fled the scene eastbound on 4700 S. and then south on Bangerter Hwy. The SUV was described as a 1999-2002 maroon Jeep Cherokee with a flat tire on the rear, driver’s side. The driver was described as a darker skinned male in his 20’s. The Jeep was eventually located abandoned at 3810 W. 5400 S. behind a gas station.

The driver of the motorcycle, Edger Frayre (19) was killed on impact with the Jeep. Indications at the crash site are that Mr. Frayre had made a wide turn out of a gas station to go south on 4015 W. and had ended up in the northbound lane, causing a head-on accident with the Jeep. Early scene analysis indicates that the Jeep probably was not at fault, however, because it fled the scene of a fatal accident, the driver of that Jeep is now facing possibly serious criminal charges.

Investigators have identified Tyler Hurt as a person of interest in this hit and run and as the owner of the Jeep involved in the crash. Hurt has family in the Salt Lake Valley and currently lives in West Jordan, but has not returned home since the accident. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Unified Police Department at 801-743-7000.
